Read all about it !!!!

WizzKid's History challenge for the last three weeks has been to "publish" a newspaper. The format of the paper could be modern, but the content had to be about life in the Americas during the mid-18th Century. I did hear a few ..... "This is ALOT of work Mom!" and "Finding the right info is really hard!"

WizzKid sourced all the info and wrote all the articles. He included News, Entertainment, Sport, Classifieds, Weather, Obituaries and Cartoons. When it was all done WizzKid said he had enjoyed the whole process but was glad it was complete! Hope you all enjoy his first publication!

Mosaicing together!

This last weekend Miss Tanzi and I had a few wonderful creative hours together. MrGee took the boys out for the day, and us girls took a trip to the craft shop. Tanzi chose to make a cross and I decided to mosaic her existing mirror.

The start of Tanzi's Bedroom makeover.

I love to be creative ....... it may be to blog, sew, paint, mosaic, or just create new hairstyles in Tanzi's hair but as long as I am making or doing something with my hands ...... I AM VERY HAPPY! At the moment I am doing up Tanzi's bedroom.Thank goodness MrGee was not home tonight, because he wouldn't have been too happy about the painting being done on our dining room table.(Sorreeeeee babes!) But I did need a lot of space! (Forgiven?)
Cooldude was eager to help with the painting of the mirror ........

And so I started the wall paintings for Miss Tanzi's bedroom.

I am happy so far!

Aboriginal Art!

We are learning about Australia in Sonlight Core 5. This week the boys had to do a "Choose Your Adventure" project. CoolDude decided to reproduce a painting done by a well known aboriginal artist.

He loved doing this task and really put a lot of effort into it. I think it's worthy of being framed and hung in his room!

A Place to belong (by WizzKid-13 yrs)

In 8th grade I learnt that high school was not what I thought it would be. My head was filled with dreams, like choosing only my favourite subjects, having all my friends around me and not doing much work.

Well, these last four weeks have been a vicious wake up call. All our subjects are pre-chosen until grade 10. There is an unbelievable amount of work and my friends are all in different classes. These are not the worst parts, many of the boys at the school are just plain disgusting. They talk horrendously about girls and the swearing is unbearable. Coming from a Christian family, I can’t identify with most of them. The ones who have been to church and claim to be Christians, are the ones who have the worst morals! They live like the rest of the world and try to be Christians at the same time. I am struggling to maintain my own morals. I feel that the only thing the boys are interested in doing is bringing each other down.

My attitude will remain positive and I’ll push through. I refuse to live like them. I refuse to live like the world. For in James 4:4 it says “Whoever makes himself a friend of the world, makes himself an enemy of God.”
God wants me here, to be a good influence in this school. So in a way, God has shown me……….A place to belong.

Buttons and Embellishments

I loved making the Jesse tree ornaments SO much that I decided to try a little bit of polymer clay creating. I just love this medium. I am using Fimo at the moment, but I am aware that there are a other similar products that are just as good.

So these are my first creations...... hopefully they will get better and better!

The Jesse Tree

We had to catch up on the daily Bible readings and hanging of the ornaments, BUT ....... at least the Jesse Tree is up to date..... and I will endeavour to keep it that way! I am reading out of The Message. Even though the lingo is easy to understand, the Bible readings are quite long. Today Miss Tanzi proclaimed " This is boring!" She's only 4 so I will overlook her comment! hehe

This Christmas is going to be a memorable one! Never before have I 'hosted' Christmas! So at the tender age of 29... I mean 39 ..... I am looking forward to having alot of my family over for a delicious feast and some great fellowship!

Mosaic trinket box

I made this for CoolDude's Class teacher as 'an end of year' gift.

It was a quick and easy project. Mosaicing is honestly not as hard as it looks! The end result is always very impressive!
